You guys are not really considering how little time he had to pull this off, in between his actual taking of the reins and working with a new team. tThese things time time, and I think it is a good, if not necessarily strong debut for Raf at Dior.

little time? oh, really? I was sure that Raf fans would use this excuse! But he had enough time for other projects while he was preparing this collection. Realize that he is a good design for his level, but he is too weak for Dior and Haute Couture.

I loved it, it was such a beautiful homage to Dior, a mix of the modern, clean and an unexpected lightness of touch, It was so simple and elegant and i think he trod a brilliant line of being himself and being respectful of Dior. His offering mixed his signature minimal, aesthetic with the pretty, femininity of Dior, things are looking exciting at Dior again!

It reminded me of Jil Sander and Balenciaga. It wasn't too experimental, it was too safe and too boring. And this collection ISN'T Haute Couture. Not a good start for Raf at Dior

Raf's collection was a little luck luster and drew too much on past expressions of Dior, perhaps he just needs to find his feet. If he wants to take the approach he did in finding that modern expression of Dior he really needs to look at the way designers like Lagerfeld who really looks at how the idea of the fashion house (in this case chanel) is still relevent to womens dressing today. I think he was under a lot of pressure and he played it safe and it was a little forced too.

I totally agree with you Simon ! I think this is the modern vision of Diors woman
Vasco Arsovski02 Jul 2012 - 18:02:29
too safe... too risk free...i hate the opening pieces...they could be so nice if he added prints on them or embroidery or texture as the one fei fei wore...i give him credit, he was under pressure but all an all great collection.
Manuela Menzi02 Jul 2012 - 22:05:23
this isn't haute couture. so boring!
dadou2103 Jul 2012 - 02:59:44
haute couture might be to much for raf even blake done better and it s not a reference.
Stephanie03 Jul 2012 - 04:49:46
This doesn't feel or look like Dior anymore. You can't call this a couture... Not after the past years collections!
Wiktor03 Jul 2012 - 08:33:39
I love the dresses, beautiful, very nice indeed
Jakob Rasmussen03 Jul 2012 - 19:46:44
Come one guys!!! this isn't that bad. Is feels like your judging Raf because of previous failure.
And that's wrong! Try to be open-minded... and actually USE your own instinct in fashion... dont say what other people say. Try to give contructive and usefull critism... instead of just trying to decide whats right and whats wrong in fashion. But i agree this isnt my favorite collection of the season.
But this is the far best Dior Collection since Galliano. PERIOD!
Jakob Rasmussen03 Jul 2012 - 19:51:45
to correct myself:
Is feels like your judging Raf because of Gayttens previous failures.
John Wong10 Oct 2012 - 05:16:12
Is too UGLY!!!! I don't feel like there is anyone want to buy those dresses.

While I think that most of the shapes and ideas were a sound representation of the Dior style; I think the execution was rough and not tailored enough. Especially when it came to the chest... It's like he doesn't know anything about a woman's breast! When there were gussets or molding they were clumsy and unproportioned to the rest of the dress... Like an afterthought. The Fall collection had soooo much more movement and design. The fabrics were delicious and divine.
