Bernhard Willhelm Ready To Wear Fall Winter 2012 Paris

Bernhard Willhelm’s Autmn/Winter 2012 collection saw girls in transit making heads turn. The unfinished and ever-changing ensembles passing by to German techno looked as if they’d just come out of an acid trip from Gilliam’s 1998 ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas’; half painted faces including a clown and black and white chess board, hair turned into rock stiff sculptures and giant pillows and teddy bears in hand.

Every colour under the sun was combined with graphic designs, animal prints, topography and tie-dye. Rope was another recurring theme appearing in all shapes and sizes - hanging loose from colourful dresses or tied round models’ ankles. Suffice to say there was a lot to take in and keep the audience on their toes.

As usual Willhelm was not afraid of making statements - one particular ensemble had a heart across the chest and tie-dye patch in a rather suggestive location. Backstage, when asked for his favourite look of the season he replied he didn’t have one.  In line with his message of presenting an ‘unfinished’ collection, his following remarks left a sentimental smile. In the end, ‘it’s the girl that makes [the outfit]…and in the best case it makes her happy.’
