Kolor Menswear Fall Winter 2013 Paris

Rather than working on seasonal pieces, Kolor’s designer Junichi Abe focuses on effortless classics infused with a dash of color.   Abe’s experience as pattern cutter in the Comme des Garçon design studio has refined his natural attention to detail, allowing him to bring forth well-tailored jackets, reverse dip-dyed in indigo from a wheat-colored base, or one with blue inserts highlighting the curve at the top of a sleeve. Trousers are left wide enough for a relaxed, comfortable gait. Later, a timeless duffle coat cut in bottle green neoprene follows textured separates perfect for layering, and covetable accessories explained the cult following that Kolor has been quietly gathering both in its native Japan and in Europe.

Effortless without being too casual, Abe’s garment construction sets Kolor apart from other brands vying for a spot in the dressy-casual spot. Playing heavily on textures as well as a palette often tagged neutral, he demonstrates that details are everything, and that even a humble sock can make –or break- an outfit.
