When the backdrop of the Naeem Khan show was finally revealed, the gut reaction was to liken it to the nuptials of #TheWorldsMostPopularCouple, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. And while the resulting collection had nothing to do with Mr. or Mrs. West, the comparison of Khan's large-sized silk florals in all white to theirs was sort of unavoidable.
But no, the collection really had nothing to do with those two, and instead seemed to be all about Khan and what he's good at: dresses. And of course not just any dresses, we're talking red carpet, gala-worthy; this could be for an alternative bride gown type of dresses. And boy did he deliver.
Things felt a little 70s at times during the collection -- likely heavily influenced by the flare-leg bejeweled jumpsuits -- but mainly just focused on the floral-oriented stunners. Flowers made appearances as embroidery on frothy tulle frocks as well as prints on one shouldered gowns.
Elsewhere backs were on display. Looks like a black crepe gown came with an open back as did a pullover -- one out of a handful in the collection -- that sported embroidery on the front and a deep V in the back, elevating a track pant done in a tuxedo style to heights of sophistication it likely had not known before. A collection of stunners indeed.
