Paul & Joe Ready To Wear Fall Winter 2014 Paris

Paul & Joe’s laid back vibe continued for fall. Not the most original collection, but on the penultimate day of the fall-winter calendar, brand designer Sophie Abou presented a girl she knew well: a girl that was cool, nonchalant and untroubled.

Ease, comfort and languor seemed to be the main message this season. Not only did the models walk in a slow saunter but hands conspicuously rested in pockets. Hair was gently tussled and makeup almost non-existent.

Jackets – even when short – were oversized; pants were ample, reminiscent of a masculine slouch; turtleneck knits which protected the neck from winter’s fury were plush appearing, in various colors such as coral, powder blue, white and the color of the season, moss-green. Fur coats were thick and declinational, evoking a leisurely luxury.

Unexpected color schemes were also brought into play, from a pastel yellow seen on billowy dresses, to a vivid abstract motif that seemed to unify all the strong colors of the collection. Abou herself even wore the print when she appeared to take her bow.

And where is this girl going, one may ask? Nowhere, judging from the static running board backdrop.  But then, even a walk in the park offers an excuse to dress for the Paul & Joe girl.
