5 Looks: The Truth is Out There at Moschino

Aliens do live among us! Well, the idea that they did certainly crept up on the Moschino runway this season. Jeremy Scott, the man with the contemporary Midas Moschino touch (having taken the top role at the house back in 2013), had been contemplating conspiracy theories – hardly surprising given the world we live in today. Trump, anyone? That’s what initiated the idea, but he looked a little further back than that to the JFK years and married that thought with his signature iconography, appropriately in the form of style icon Jackie O, as well as Marilyn Monroe, to the backdrop of his standard fun-times.

So it all began with those prim Fifties and Sixties airhostess outfits, pillbox hats, and morphed more into Jackie O for plenty of poise and perfect little suits; he gave us a splash of Lichtenstein-style pop-kitsch and then took us to town with Marilyn Monroe ball gowns, shards of sparkle jutting from them; and it all came in something of a pastel palette (toned down for Scott for a change), save for the opening neon-primary looks of orange and turquoise and pink, models painted in these shades too as a nod to these other worldly beings.

Here, see the journey of Jeremy Scott’s Moschino collection in a 5-look-bite-size form, aliens and beyond…

Air hostess-style beginnings already lean to the put-together prim of Jackie O.
