This season’s Alexander McQueen show kicked off rather reasonably: a white fur cape, a pleated white skirt and knee-high cream legwarmers suggested an elegance midway between school-girl and Snow Queen. But one should have guessed from the protection-like sunglasses fit for a science class, that the relative calm was soon to flip over.
Soon, extra-large, detachable fur neck pieces, paired with embroidered, powder pink leather dresses brought an edgier touch; this was followed by guipure dresses with curved, oversized shoulders, calf-long sleeves, and UGG-like boots.
For outerwear, Snow Man-like coats were worn with large silver belts; as for cocktail pieces, sheer muslin skirts covered in tiny silk bows were paired with matching belly free tops.
As for the finale, it consisted of off the shoulder ruby dresses with gigantic fur hemlines.
Whether influenced by the Yeti or an Alien, Alexander McQueen designs still embody modern-day futurism.
