Alexander McQueen Ready To Wear Spring Summer 2017 Paris
An imaginary island as a catwalk. A carpet strewn wilderness, encircling guests with rocks and gravel which wards off the celtic warriors imagined by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. Wearing insects and boots reinforced with metal. Flat, helmet hair. Clinking jewelry with chrome silver reflections. Dangling from black leather bustiers, they are hooked onto kilts, on masculine tailored jackets with military edging. Black shading, nocturnal tartan, crystal fringing like tentacles. Then the light, filled with luminous florals. They are all over designs, embroidered onto transparent vests, all the way down to the boots. Flowers bloom on denim as well. Canvas used for the sails on the boats which journey through the deep seas surrounding the Shetland Isles, the iconic location that inspired the collection. The sea and its creatures are embroidered on the final looks, with a deep trawling frills that ripple like waves crashing onto the rocks: A sea of love.
