Dolce & Gabbana Ready To Wear Fall Winter 2017 Milan

Dolce & Gabbana has been on a crusade to promote family values with its #DGFamily campaign for some time. And for Fall/Winter they staged a show in Milan that kicked the social media part of the campaign into overdrive. The result was one of their most emotional shows ever. [CONTINUE READING...]

Against the backdrop of a simple, Studio Uno style structure, social media pop star Austin Mahone starts to sing. Just like Pixie Lott, who performed at the house’s mega after show party later on that evening. Because the Dolce & Gabbana show is a show in the true sense of the word. Just as with menswear in January, but perhaps even more so, the casting underlined a radical change to traditional expectations. Children, teenagers, influencers and millennials, boyfriends, girlfriends and relatives, in love with each other or loved and admired by all. Coming from all over the world, stand out personalities and not just the sinuous silhouettes of top models took to the runway. The children of celebrities, artists, sports stars, singers. A smattering of models and mothers in the front row or on the catwalk. Like Vittoria Ceretti, who closed the show with her mother, or Marpessa who was there with her daughter. And then there was Halle and Chloe Berry, the American sisters whose musical exploits have been linked to Beyonce, Coco Brandolini, Lucky Blue Smith and his girlfriend Stormi Bree, Kenya Kinski Kones, the daughter of Natasha Kinski, or Lady Kitty Spencer, and the niece of Lady Diana to name just a few. A real extended family, united by their enthusiasm to do something different. “We wanted to see each one through fresh eyes, “ Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana told MFF. Break with convention. Hanging out with their #DGFamily on the runway at the end of the show, tearing down the barrier between the show and backstage. The duo cracked jokes with the audience, kissed and hugged people, took selfies. To immortalize the decorative crowns, headbands with “New Rinascimento” written in stars and popping out on tops underlined the current mood of the design duo. Animal prints for all ages added a wild touch. From underwear to fur coats, menswear jackets and lace. A floral touch, appearing as plastic appliqué on small coats. With logos and letters on T-Shirts and coats, pins and buttons. And for the most beautiful of the social media realm, card prints. To play or perhaps to lighten the irony, which Instagram fans will know to be a favourite of Mr. Gabbana. There were also white bear sweatshirts and canary yellow suits, embroidered tails and bomber jackets with souvenir jeans printed with space age cartoons. “The astronaut print? We’ve landed in a new, different world, which is where we’re now starting out from.”
