Let the beat play. Or should that be Beats by Dr. Dre? The now ubiquitous urban accessory got the luxe treatment at Fendi on Monday.
On her catwalk Silvia Venturini Fendi wanted to give fans of her menswear a collection designed for stylish city dwellers. So of course crafting the hippest headphones on the market out of lush and colorful Selleria leathers or black crocodile was a perfect way to get that message across. But it certainly wasn’t the only way Fendi tempted men with this show.
There was a lot to love in this spring/summer 2015 collection. First and foremost was how Fendi cleverly raised the stakes on the concept of luxury denim. How so? By only using its essence, in the form of waterproof leather pieces that the designer covered with prints of worn denim bonded directly onto the material. Seriously cool stuff.
Other highlights included colorful pixilated leather jackets that put the talents of the house’s artisans on fine display. While one featuring a face of one of the now iconic Fendi “monsters” showed that the brand isn’t above a bit of sartorial fun. Interesting ideas, such as perforated vests worn on top of blazers and classic t-shirts with front pockets crafted out of leather, also nailed the urban sophisticate theme.
The Fendi accessories hit a high mark this season. Colorful leather backpacks tricked out with crocodile tails, bright primary color strappy sandals, woolly light bulb key chains, and utility packs harnessed across the torso all will have a wait list by the time this collection arrives in stores.
Fendi fashioned a collection that once again did not disappoint this brand’s quickly growing fan base.
