Givenchy Couture Fall Winter 2011 Paris
From the Givenchy Couture Studio:
"Riccardo Tisci brings Haute Couture into a new territory in which a heavenly harmony is as rich as it is elaborate. Angels meet birds of paradise to deliver an ethereal collection. A feeling of lightness gives life to the epitome of femininity.
Pure and soft organic gowns are tempered by architectural constructions and tougher details. Each dress illustrates a technical prowess where only Haute Couture savoir faire can make such cloudlike fantasy come true. Embroidery follows an engineered-like placement. Fragile fabrics and seemingly frail structures are sculpted into evening dresses thanks to the expert hands of the Givenchy atelier. Layered and worked in 3D, they form delicate degrades creating a sense of movement flowing through the entire collection.
Romantic Chantilly lace, airy feathers, gauzy silk tulle, downy raw cashmere and diaphanous organza contrast with pony skin, nappa leather, metal chains, cotton macramé lace, white beads and reflecting pearls.
The subtle color palette seems to have been touched by the hands of albino angels revealing restrained hues of white, ecru, cream, chalk, beige and light gold.
This season, Riccardo Tisci takes his collection to Paris’ wharfs of the Seine River for its usual group shot. The portrait crystallizes a sense of otherworldliness and captures a feeling of peacefulness matching the cloudy blue sky yet contrasting with the industrial background and the hard cobblestone pavement."
