Isabel Marant Ready To Wear Spring Summer 2015 Paris
Who would want to follow on from Dior at the ready to wear shows in Paris?
The honor fell to designer Isabel Marant after guests filed in late to the Palais de Tokyo venue where they were met with leggy models, walking in skinny mini dresses , decorated with a touch of the tribal that could be found reflected in the African beats.
Mini dresses and skirts stopped at the top of the thighs, like a shiny black number draped and then seemingly shrink wrapped like a suitcase around the model's torso.
For trousers, there were crocheted designs in black that looked too comfy for words, but also chic with an embroidered rim around the loose fitting waist line.
Shorts were made of a rough looking linen with an unfinished hemline and were matched with a brownish red top that looked like a Moroccan hand woven rug folded in half and worn.
Decoration looked jungle-like. Think a feathered jacket that looked like the model had shot a bird and put on its feathery body to keep warm in her black mini skirt.
In other looks, the minis looked like they were crafted from palms that might more usually be found hanging around a tropical hut.
The collection of short figure hugging dresses and skirts, worn by petite bronzed models, looked Roman in an effect enhanced by flat sandals.
But the idea was embellished and reworked.
The mini shrink wrap dress concept was delivered in a multitude of styles, from ruffles to plunging neck lines, plain or decorated, matte or sheer. It made for the perfect uniform for any girl wanting to show off a girly figure and legs and a taste for fine materials and far flung places, and it made one dream of the summer months ahead.
