Jean Paul Gaultier Menswear Fall Winter 2011 Paris

Entitled "James Blonde", JPG's incredibly entertaining show delivered exactly that in two parts, prefaced by acrobatic ninja's that somersaulted across the raised catwalk.

First, walking to composer John Barry's theme tune to the Bond series, came a tall, classically handsome model in a black dinner tux holding a gun. He was followed by male model du jour Andre Pejic whose long, golden hair hung over a soft, looser, more feminine version of the tuxedo with kitten-heel ankle boots.

From here on in the audience saw twist upon twist on the black tux with either silk lapels or black silk shirt and tie combos. The casting was amongst the most striking of the entire week: unapologetically male even if effeminately so, which is very Gaultier.

Colour trends of the season peeped through the black namely red, beige and a flash of purple on neoprene. Amongst the fun styling that kept us up to speed with the theme (scuba suits, thigh gun holsters and furry bullet proof vests) were wearable pieces. The black suits, Shearling coats and supa fly, fur trimmed, leather quilted MA-1 flight jackets being among them. Part two of the show (centred around gold) was perhaps less so although the closing outfit of Andre Pejic was a vision. His blonde hair swept glamourously to one side and wearing a dramatic amber striped fur accessorized with gold bangles, belt, heels and gun, the audience was definitely entertained by Monsieur Gaultier's showmanship.

The sunglasses were made with Alain Mikli, who designed Elton John's creations in the 80s and the 'shutter shades' commissioned by Kanye West for the video, Stronger.
