There were quite a few “fashion happenings” on the New York Fashion Week catwalks this season. But perhaps no one had as much fun causing a stir than Jeremy Scott. His Milk Studio show space on Wednesday was filled with fun-loving fashion odd balls, lead by their current high priestess Miley Cyrus.
But the singer wasn’t only on hand to support Scott, who has been her go-to designer of late. She and Scott are now bosom buddies and actually collaborated on the spring/summer 2015 show. Scott created the playful clothes, and Cyrus came up with the perfect childlike plastic jewelry accoutrements. The pieces are part of her new DYI art collection the songstress has dubbed “Dirty Hippie."
Cyrus’s brightly-colored, long-beaded necklaces, shoulder-length plastic earrings and fuzzy pom pom rings, worked beautifully with Scott’s 1960’s Malibu Barbie meets hippy chick collection. It was a romp of a show that was filled with all the hallmark designs that fans of Scott’s whimsical view of fashion will adore.
This season’s message shirts were particularly good. The hands down standout was a top that said, “Don’t Take Drugs” on the front and then had the front row laughing when the model turned to reveal the rest of the message: “Give Them To Me.”
The incorporation of the Dreamwork's character Shrek into the psychedelic tie-dyed and candy-colored prints, as the show’s mascot, somehow fit perfectly. And Scott’s fun footwear partnership with Adidas, this time his sneakers came lit up with flame patterned wings, is still going strong.
