Jill Stuart Ready To Wear Fall Winter 2014 New York

There was a crush of photographers and Instagrammers  crowded around actress Anna Kendrick before the Jill Stuart Fall 2014 show. That crush, was mimicked by a similar crush to get backstage after the last look had gone by with the likes of InStyle, WWD and photographer and personality Nigel Barker all in queue.

The crowds were warranted though, Kendrick on the heels of her Pitch Perfect release and Stuart on the heels of a collection full of covetable teddy coats and a perfect palette that included a few key berry soaked looks. With show notes that listed words like "irregular beauty," "untamable," and "effortless," the collection found inspirations in a reformed rocker chick.

There are few who can do rocker well without accessories. For Stuart, who got her start in fashion at 15 after selling a collection of accessories to Bloomingdales, that meant models came down adorned - yet another word from the show notes - with gold coins.  Those coins accessorized a mainly dark palette of silhouettes that hit a little high on stocking covered thighs.

Stuart’s attempts at reformation, while decent looks on to themselves, seemed to lack connection with the rest of the collection.  Leather skirts  dropped to midi lengths for moderation, while a few long sleeve, high necked dresses held on to their hardcore past with a backless surprise.
