For their return to New York after their 10th anniversary jaunt in London, the designers at Marchesa gave themselves over to a dark, sensual elegance. Steeped in an Old World sophistication, the collection pushed forth bid after bid of Oscars' Red Carpet options.
Cropped but perfectly styled hair and an almost seedy underbelly of the collection put the collection on the same road of Great Gatsby, though the use of red florals here diverged the two. In particular, those flowers were poppies, a part of the Opium Dreams inspirations. Seedy indeed.
When you get right down to the technicalities of the pieces, it was about movement. Swinging lace was present in half the collection, there were ostrich feathered ruffles, and one red carpet option — weren't all of them truly SOMEONE's red carpet option -- featured a series of crystal ropes dangling from it. If this is a dream, it's one of luxury we don't want to wake up from.
