Milla Snorrason Ready To Wear Fall Winter 2012 Reykjavik

From Reykjavik with love – this could be the title of Hilda Gunnarsdóttir's debut collection for her label Milla Snorrason – as everything in the designer's work is expressing her strong attachement to Icelandic aesthetics.

A country girl at heart, Gunnarsdóttir came to Reykjavik to bring her environmental consciousness on an international level. “I always use natural fabrics, I'm not into polyester, nylon and all the synthetics. Also, I try to use as much “made in Iceland” materials as I can. My wools are all from here”, explains Gunnarsdóttir.

“The prints on my silk tops and pants come straight out of the city landscape of Reykjavik, I was inspired by the architectural heritage of Guðjón Samúelsson. His rigid lines were the basis of my prints. Reykjavik's harbor also inspired me: you can find the contours of its ships on the print of my tee-shirts”, continues the young designer. Opting for preppy yet casual designs, Gunnarsdóttir's woman is all about sleek school-girls looks, provided by baby-blue low-fitting jumpsuits, two-tone silk dresses with peter pan collars, tailored uniforms in powder-pink, knitted capri bike pants and bow-tie ballerinas. Next season, the young designer will pay homage to another town in Iceland. We're looking forward to it.
