Missoni Menswear Spring Summer 2013 Milan

Over a catwalk covered in sand shaded and sculpted to echo the zigzag look of a Missoni weave, Angela Missoni took the fashion world on a trip to the desert.

Staple travel clothing like field coats, functional shorts, safari jackets and sturdy sweaters all got the iconic Missoni treatment. The coats came cut in a lightweight nylon and stamped with a print that brought to mind the sand dunes of the Sahara. The shorts showed up cropped  and cut from multicolored diamond pattern silk, as colorful form fitting knitwear, or in more classic color options of white or beige but constructed out of lush jacquards and finish with a drawstring closer at the hem.  The classic safari jacket was knitted into being and nubby sweaters were embellished with iridescent elements.

It all made for a poetic collection with a dreamer’s soul. One that never lost sight of the brand’s heritage but was willing to have it voyage to unexpected locations.
