It’s safe to say - denim is a fabric that suits everyone. Genderless and versatile, it's probably the most natural addition to any wardrobe and it also happens to have a history which hails back to the start of the century. After all, only a few garments can recall a period, like a pair of jeans. And over time this garment, in particular, has become the perfect traditional piece to be styled and worn by everyone in their unique way, albeit its simplicity.
It comes as no surprise then that Miu Miu, Prada’s iconic sister brand, has decided to launch a capsule collection featuring six denim trousers – each of which was inspired by the influential decade in which it was created, and whose name brings to mind one of the sophisticated it-girls who most famously wore them.
From Lauren Bacall’s 1940s inspired, raw and mostly functional dark blue heavy denim to Brigitte Bardot’s 1950s high-waisted Capri-looking feminine styles, Francoise Hardy’s white, straight and high-waisted styles and Jane Birkin’s low waisted flower-power flares. From Brooke Shields’ unisex yet still sexy mom jeans to finally, Kate Moss’ wide blue minimal statement trousers - every item is different, stylish yet perfect for all body types.
The capsule collection will be released in selected stores at the beginning of February and is available to buy online on MiuMiu.com.
