Packaging. That's what seemed to have captured the Maison Martin Margiela MM6 team's attention for the fall season. Bags that looked like ULINE shipping envelopes, tops that were shrouded by bubble packaging and some that seemed like they were even treated with a few swathes of transparent wrapping tape, all played a role in the collection.
In addition, as models wound their way around the night's musical performer Sean Nicholas Savage - the other musical guest of the night was Kelly Rowland who sat front row - slight hints of aggression became evident in the show's styling: the knotting and bunching as well as slightly undone aspects of skirts and dresses all included. The result was a collection that seemed to revolve around the idea of "upcycling," the softest moments occurring at a duo of knit looks, both done in the collection's strong orange.
Yet while this all sounds a bit experiential and very editorial, the collection was surprisingly wearable. Garments mostly hang loosely on the body and found footing with thick black boots – either of the over the knee, or a high ankle variety. Other than blood orange, the palette included navy, black, white and an olive green.
