Petar Petrov Menswear Fall Winter 2011 Paris

Independent designer Petar Petrov makes wearable, casual mens clothing with high-end materials. Described by Petrov as "our typically easy-going, boyish ideal with a real sense of sophisticated luxury", his clothes are indeed young in spirit and have that pared down architectural vibe that designers from the Netherlands, Scandinavia or Belgium create.

Petrov is infact from Vienna and his designs propose a modern, discrete, sartorial charm for the youthful gent. Shearling jackets, baby calf leather slacks and soft, knitted, Alpaca jumpers walked gently in a collection that was grounded in muted shades of blue and grey, punctuated by a little leather jacket in sand and delicate lace-up shoes in rusty reds. The cherry is the touch of the materials and backstage with the clothes, it was hard to stop stroking all the soft textures once we started.

Petrov himself is almost as youthful as his models and as he talks, exudes the light touch of his design style. If he had walked the catwalk himself, none except those who know him would have been any the wiser. Held in a minimalist, concrete room with textures that complemented Petrov's uncluttered collection, the soundtrack was provided by a live acoustic solo performance.
