One of the biggest trends of the Paris menswear season isn't on the runway, but rather the runway itself, or more specifically designers trading in the traditional catwalk for a presentation runway hybrid. Raf did it, Haider did it, Cerruti did it and now Sacai has also followed suit. But truth be told, Chitose Abe has been doing this sort of designer display for years now and as such knows just the right way to get her message across.
First show the presentation on a loop. Abe's models were continually coming and going, which worked out well for an appreciative audience rushing from the previous show.
Second make the models move. At Sacai they were stepping up and down from one dais after another around the room so that the audience could admire from all angles the unexpected fabric and silhouette combinations.
And finally give people at a presentation the option to sit or stand. This was another thoughtful move on the part of the house. In this way people could enjoy the thick knit ponchos, furry looking track pants and padded jackets with cinched in waistlines in the collection at their leisure.
Chitose did everything right with her presentation and her well thought out clothes benefited fully from her foresight.
