Press reset- there is no need to rewind, at Sportmax the mood was up and the ideas were clear: next spring/summer’s catwalk looks were clean and constructed. The points of reference to build this collection were taken from contemporary architecture, think graphic skyscrapers, pure lines and great volumes reflected through an oversized bomber jacket cinched at the back, or a chrome hardware enriched techno-parka.
Innovative fabrics were celebrated throughout the show with tweeds featuring nylon inlays or crisp shantung enlightened with transparent vinyl panels. Even the organza had a technological appeal to it with some embroidery and printed windowpane check print.
The “fashion refresh” statement the brand chose sounded a bit futuristic and could leave some critics in the audience speechless- what to think about the oversized chevron or leather cutout houndstooth pattern? For sure the silhouettes were harmonious in proportions, thanks to a clever sense of layering and the combination of boxy jackets with tapered trousers or folded skirts. Some scattered dashes of jungle green and orange-red interrupted the line up of white and black outfits.
Overall, the silhouettes were pleasing to the eyes and the show eventually won the applause with a sporty and chic to the max collection.
