Sunday evening Dutch designer Tony Cohen presented the new Spring Summer collection TONYCOHEN. The audience was also treated to a special preview of the capsule menswear collection of the newest line titled TONYCOHEN MAN.
Reserved sensuality combined with strong shapes were the starting point for the Spring Summer collection. The sense of movement and lenient silk were key elements. This sensitivity of materials were expressed in the different shapes and volumes of the garments. Lots of skin was shown through dresses with plunging necklines and skirts with thigh-high splits. The main focus lay on the adornment of the body as opposed to being provocative. Very flattering were the knee-length slits at the back of long skirts, elongating the legs and playing peek-a-boo with the gorgeous sandals worn underneath. Raw and slightly frayed edges contrasted with sleek and sexy shapes. The best was kept for last with a beautiful, cream colored, flowy dress with a long train that moved behind the model like a cape.
This evening also marked the preview of the debut menswear collection, titled TONYCOHEN MAN. Layering was the key word with long jackets and coats worn over oversized shirts, and floor length shawls that were tucked in under the coats.
The show was opened and closed by the famous Dutch model Kim Feenstra who won the title Holland's Next Top Model in 2007.
The Amsterdam born Tony Cohen launched his couture label TONYCOHEN in 2005. In five years he managed to achieve international success and showed his fifth collection on the catwalk of Bryant Park during New York Fashion Week in 2010.
