Vanessa Bruno Ready To Wear Spring Summer 2013 Paris
Vanessa Bruno is the purveyor of wardrobe staples of fashionable Parisians and those wishing to emulate their style. It is unknown through which means Bruno peers into to find the unexpressed wishes of her followers, but she hits the sweet spot almost every time with unerring accuracy.
Her collections have their detractors, who cite their commercial nature and find them repetitive but that would be ignoring the true pull of a pretty frock from her and their photogenic nature in a Clemency Poesy way.
She offered softly tailored ensembles, crisp cleanly pleated skirts that swung with every step. For high summer when the chic flee from city and flit off to their country houses/weddings/soft-focused breaks, Bruno designed: a mandarin collared jacket with a very slight peplum embroidered white on white with laurel leaves, a printed jumpsuit with spaghetti straps, and a blush cotton sweater, loosely knit and ready to be a favorite on summer nights.
Gone - was her signature tote, which was replaced by rectangular clutches or round feed-bucket shaped bags. Her ball-studded sandals had a sweet dressed-down factor to them.
So it may not be the bleeding edge of fashion design but it is sweet, palatable and not too serious. The formula works, and next summer, a kaleidoscope of these looks will no doubt roam the city.
