Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2014 London

The Victoria’s Secret machine landed for the first time in London at Earls Court to stage what’s considered as "The Superbowl of Supermodels". Arriving by a pink private jet were 47 Angels – 10 new faces, 4 come backs, and several favorites. The United Nation of Angels are toned, tanned and worshipped like goddesses including Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Lily Aldridge and Lily Donaldson, Candice Swanepoel, Doutzen Kroes and Karlie Kloss.

Bringing an army of security, production, personnel, hair, make up and manicurists, Angels were pampered and prepped backstage in pink silk and diamante branded robes before strutting the 100 foot runway. With 39 pairs of wings, Karlie’s opening pair made of 18K gold, high heels by Nicholas Kirkwood and Sophia Webster, two fantasy bras dripping in diamonds, rubies and sapphires and valued at $2 million dollars each, it was fair to say the 19th Victoria’s Secret Show was the biggest yet, with two shows playing host to over 3000 guests.

But this wasn’t your typical fashion show – it was supposed to be "fun" and it was about the girls – with clothes kept to a minimum, if at all, well why would you want the distraction if you had wings?! Here Angels had bodies to carry off sparkling bits of nothing, blew kisses as they passed and have legions of Instagram followers. Once you earn your "wings" you transcend from model to Angel, and you hit another level in your career.

This was more spectacle than show, featuring underwear that doesn’t want to hide and music mixed by DJ Jeremy Healy. The show was divided into themes: Gilded Angels – gold metallic warriors; Exotic Traveler – matadors and gypsy girls accompanied live performance of ‘Thinking of Loud’ by Ed Sheeran; Dream Girls – sugary chiffon boudoir looks with Taylor Swift singing about ‘Blank Space’; University of Pink with Ariana Grande thrusting her way through a medley of hits while ghetto girls and leopard prints stalked the runway; Fairytale for ethereal ruffles of chiffon to Hozier’s live ballad ‘Take Me to Church’ before Angel favourite Taylor Swift, singing her hit ‘Style’, hand in hand with best-girl pal Karlie Kloss, led the Angel Ball finale of black and white laces as balloons exploded over the bras and babes extravaganza that has become the phenomenon that is watched in over 190 countries, by 500 million viewers worldwide.
