Ground control to Major Tom, did you remember to pack a suit? In the early days of any new form of transportation, travellers would dress for the occasion. Why should things be any different for interstellar travel? As the era of space commute nears, Wooyoungmi's eponymous founder and co-designer Katie Chang pondered the appropriate attire for this new age.
That was one way to look at the formality of the silver-faced man who appeared. Another would be that this collection was the essential wardrobe brought to Earth by a settler looking to blend in. Tactical vests and safety belt straps betrayed the technicalities of travel. Jackets and blazers, overcoats and blousons, slacks and tracksuit bottoms, every base and occasion felt covered by the work of the Korean duo. From silver grey to darkening blue, to deepest night, the palette waned like the moon, coloring everything in sight.
Well-executed and potent on retail racks, the collection was nothing out of this world, but everyone loves a moonlit stroll.
