Xander Zhou designs menswear with a certain preppy edge to it. His previous collection took on a more oriental inspiration featuring turban-like hats, long coats, and scarves.
This season, it seems like the designer explores a deeper side of his original preppy aesthetics and injects modern and sportswear elements to it.
The opening look is composed of a sharp lapeled jacket combined with baggy and more casual trousers. The duality of the inspiration is captured within those kinds of silhouettes.
Sneakers also double as sandals, zippers on the front replace ties giving to laid back looks a smarter touch.
The color palette reflects the sportswear vibe found throughout the collection and includes shades of blue, grey, neutral and white.
Highlights of the show include balanced looks mixing tailored pieces with baggier ones. When the shorts are fitted, the sweaters are bulky and voluminous.
Prints are kept minimal as the cuts are the key element of the collection. However, some pieces feature optical illusion prints and words, a trend that has been very common amongst British menswear designers.
