For her decampment to New York in lieu of London Fashion Week, the Brit designer Zoe Jordan decided to show only a tight edit of 9 looks. “We just feel that for the presentation we wanted to show something that was a really strong statement rather than try to show everything,” Zoe admitted after taking a selfie with a fan. That edited grouping showed four different prints, which was surprisingly not overwhelming.
Starting with a weekend in Berlin, the collection looks to cracked granite, atomized metals and other urbane influences for its print sourcings. Cuts seem fairly non-fussy with materials, just a canvas of sorts for the chilled blues and metallic jacquards. Elsewhere, things got a bit relaxed with raffia weave and leather sweatpants, honestly creating an edited wardrobe of sorts, set to be available for purchase on Moda Operandi today. “That kind of girl knows her style and is not too easily influenced, and she really wants quality pieces she can wear season after season.”
It was an appropriate collection for a New York debut, as a mix of classic, commercial shapes with intriguing visual interest. And as for returning to the motherland: “I hope to go back to London in a few seasons as a stronger brand.”
